Central boys track team falls to Poplar Bluff

The Central track teams split a dual track meet at Poplar Bluff on Tuesday night.

The Central boys lost 82-59, and the Tigers girls dominated 107-34.

Allen Walker won the 100-meter dash and the long jump for Central.

Nadia Cox won the 100 and long jump for the girls team.

Ste. Genevieve Invitational

Perryville finished second in the 16-team boys meet with 90 points, behind Potosi's 137. Jackson placed sixth with 38 points.

Event winners for the Pirates were Clinton Rice in the 300-meter hurdles and Kyle Cottner in the long jump.

Dexter Invitational

The Notre Dame girls track team placed first at Dexter.

Katie Daniel won three events -- the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and shot put -- and Amber Karnes set the school record in the long jump as part of her two wins. Emily Bira set the school record in the 100.

After neither team scored in regulation, Kate Miller found the net 13 seconds into overtime to lift Central past visiting Sikeston.

Lauren Thompson assisted on the goal for the Tigers (7-2-1), while Chelsea Burns recorded the shutout.

Rebecca Richbourgh and Hannah Kohm scored two goals apiece in a road rout.

Molly Hartmann, Shay Priester, Leslie Gordon and Erin Curtis added a goal apiece. Curtis had two assists, while Hartmann, Richbourg, Jenni Tenholder and Randi Kraust each had one.

Kylie Werner picked up her sixth shutout for Jackson (9-2).

GIRLS SWIMMING MICDS Quad

Notre Dame finished fourth among four teams at Mary Institute-Country Day School.

Ursuline Academy won the meet with 171 points, MICDS was second at 155, Lutheran South placed third at 117, and the Bulldogs finished with 95 points.

Notre Dame's Mollie Messmer placed second in the 200-yard freestyle, third in the 100 free and was part of the 200 free relay that placed second. Ashly Ducharme placed second in the 200 IM and third in the 500 free.

Notre Dame won a three-team meet at the Caruthersville Country Club.

The Bulldogs' Will Lindman and Caruthersville's Justin Dorroh each shot 5-over-par 40 for the medalist spot. Brandon Holzum, Clayton Eftink and Jonathan Blattel all shot rounds of 42 for Notre Dame.

BOYS TENNIS Central 5, Sikeston 4

Central improved to 6-1 with a home win against Sikeston.

Carson Kelley, David Deisher, Drew Kiel and Alex Kies won singles matches for the Tigers.
