The Standard Democrat newspaper reported that at 4:25 a.m. today, the New Madrid County Sheriff's Department and the SEMO Drug Task Force responded to a report of an explosion on County Road 820. Upon arrival they found a victim with serious chemical burns.
The victim was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center at Sikeston.
During their investigation, officers also responded to a vehicle fire on County Road 824. According to New Madrid County Sheriff Terry Stevens, investigators believe the burnt vehicle may be the result of arson and linked to the meth lab explosion.
Stevens said names are being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.

gigilee-- You've got it all wrong. The increase in meth related explosions is directly related to less-experienced people trying to cook meth.
When a manufacturer goes to prison, his consumers must shop elsewhere or make their own. Most of the latter group are lazy/dumb/disabled, and they need just enough in their system to keep from 'coming down.'
Next thing ya know, the rookies are all shaking bottled-bombs in their trucks, and our taxe money pays for their stupidity.
