"This morning I had bacon and eggs for breakfast. Chicken was involved, hog was committed" ---- Ron Legrand

"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor" ---- Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776

Independent Conservative Candidate Larry Bill leads the field of four candidates running for Congress, 8th District, Missouri in "Candidate Self-Financing". According to the website OpenSecrets.org, the Federal Election Commission discloses Mr. Bill contributed $2,151 to his own campaign. Bob Parker, whose fourth quarter results are not yet in, committed $1,221. He may ultimately in fact prove to out-contribute Mr. Bill.

Big money campaigner Jo Ann Emerson contributed ten (10) dollars to her cause.

Tommy Sowers contributed zero (0).

Mr. Bill responded to this news with a cynical retort: "I would speculate that the major campaigners actually "loaned" money to their campaigns. This is an election loophole professional politicians use; once the "folks" and lobbyists fill their campaign coffers , the candidates can have their loans repaid so they still end up with no stake in their own race."

According to Mr. Bill, his campaign policy is to accept no contributions outside their immediate family until he is officially on the ballot. His wife is the only other contributor. Mr. Bill continued, "Even when we get on the ballot, we may continue to turn money down, as we have already."
