Free Computer Classes Offered to the Community

Okay, so now you have that home computer that your kids said you must have but you don't have a clue what it can do, much less how to do it! Well, worry no more! The students and staff at Perryville High School will be hosting FREE Computer Assistance classes to community members during the months of February, March and April.

"We saw this as a need in the community," said Assistant Superintendent Russell Leek, "and developed these classes on basic computer operations. We think these open labs will help people get more use out of their home computers."

Classes will be offered every Tuesday in the Perryville High School Library from 3:30-5:00 p.m. and 5:30-7:00 p.m. during the months of February, March and April.

Participants will be given a chance to hear instruction on a particular subject, review what they might already know and practice their computer/technology skills.

"We encourage people to bring their questions," said Candyce Giesler, Perryville High School Librarian. "There will be students and staff members available to assist those attending. It doesn't matter if you are a senior citizen or a parent who wants to keep up with what their kids are learning, everyone is welcome to attend. We just ask that you call and reserve your spot. There are 18 computers available in the library so we encourage people to call early and make their reservations. However, if you have your own laptop and want to bring it along, that's great. We'll work with you to answer any questions you might have. Also, don't forget to bring photos and cell phones in April for the photo and cell phone sessions."

February 9 - E-mail for Beginners (address books, attachments)

February 16 - Basic Internet Searching

February 23 - Basic Internet Searching

March 2 - Windows Basics

March 9 - Windows Basics

March 16 - Wood Processing Basics and Practice

March 23 - Word Processing Basics and Practice

March 30 - Overview of software programs

April 6 - Organizing and storing photos on-line (bring photos!)

April 13 - Editing Photos (bring photos!)

April 20 - Make a PhotoStory

April 27 - Basic Cell Phone Use (be sure to bring your cell phone!)
