Chamber of Commerce banquet to go on as planned despite inclement weather
Friday, January 29, 2010
Despite the threat of significant snowfall, today's Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce annual banquet will go on as scheduled. John Mehner, executive director of the chamber, said canceling the event with this short notice would be too costly. "We can't tell the caterer to take back 650 dinners," Mehner said. "If we had 24 inches of snow, we wouldn't have it. But if it's 6 inches or less the main streets will be fine by the time we start." Scheduled at the Venue, 80 S. Plaza Way, social hour starts at 6 p.m., with the meal beginning at 7 p.m.
