Late night crash knocks out power in Cape Girardeau neighborhood

Crews restored electricity earlier Wednesday in a Cape Girardeau neighborhood after a car crashed into a utility pole late Tuesday.

According to Cape Girardeau battalion chief Fred Vincel, a car left the roadway and severed a utility pole in the 1500 block of Big Bend Road. Vincel said about 350 AmerenUE customers were without power at the time.

KFVS12 said they guy clipped the electric pole and 450 people were without cause we were one of them and it was bad the car was in the ditch and the pole was split in half there were about 3-4 police cars and a few fire trucks and a CCPA they had 5th and Big Bend closed all the way to Johnson or Roberts and BiG Bend Closed and electricty ameren said was back on about 2:40am

One person can do something that affects a lot of people. Was it just purely an accident or ???
