High school roundup: ND girls fall to St. Joseph Academy

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Notre Dame got a clear look at a 3-pointer for the win in the closing seconds Wednesday, but it came up short.

The Bulldogs were trying to knock off St. Joseph Academy, No. 4 in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's large school rankings, but the shot fell short and Notre Dame lost 57-55 in girls basketball action.

Jane Morrill, who already committed to Arkansas State, led Notre Dame with 22 points. She added eight rebounds and a blocked shot. Meghan Dohogne pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds before fouling out.

Allyson Bradshaw chipped in 15 points, including three treys, and three assists.

Notre Dame will get a crack at the state's top-ranked team in Class 5 when Incarnate Word travels to Cape Girardeau for Saturday's Notre Dame Shootout. The Bulldogs (12-3) play Incarnate Word at 6 p.m.
