After sentencing, it was noted that Evans began committing the stealing offenses one month after being placed on probation for felony theft in a case where he stole money from customers while working as a salesman at Auffenberg Chrysler. Circuit Court Judge Fred Copeland sentenced Evans to three years in prison April 14 in that case, but the sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation.
"He is one of the more spectacularly unsuccessful probationers of the past decade," Swingle said. "Now it will be up to Judge Copeland to decide whether the three-year sentence for the probation violation should run consecutively to this 15-year sentence."
Swingle added that this case serves as an example to employers to screen their new hires more carefully.
"I'm sure Ashley Furniture Store would not have hired Aaron Evans had they checked Missouri Case.net and found out he had just been convicted of felony stealing by deceit," said Swingle.

yes he did get 15 years but the are running concurrent. Which means he means he will only get five years vut he will be out with one year!
Of course. It is Judge Syler and Defender Booth. She gets WHATEVER she wants in Judge Syler's court. Suprised that he did not order that Evans be released after 120 days, which he may have done!!
Cartman - Isn't this gal a public defender? How is she getting all these breaks and how do you know this? This is scary crap!
Easy to look up. Check casenet. Look at several cases. Twyon Turner (not sure of spelling of the first name) or Steve Van Meter. Check the cases that Syler presides over. You will be appalled at the sentences that he hands down.
Van Meter was put on probation in 2004 by Syler and Booth defended him. He got arrested again for the same thing in 2005 (less than a year later), for drugs, while on probation and got 120 days in prison and then....you guessed it, probation again. Booth was again his attorney. He got arrested a third time in 2007 for drugs and Syler placed him on probation. HE WAS ALREADY ON PROBATION FOR TWO OTHER CASES. HOW DO YOU GIVE HIM THREE PROBATION CASES FOR THREE (3) SEPARATE CASES?????? I guess he figures that he can give him double secret probation.
Van Meter was arrested in 2008 for the FOURTH time (in less than 5 years) and after being found guilty by a jury, Syler tried to give him long term drug treatment. (which is not allowed when he was a prior and persistent drug offender and would mean that the guy would be out on the streets after faking his way through a year and a half of treatment.) The guy was in Syler's court more then anyone else, but kept getting probation. Again, I guess his threat was if you violate probation, young man, then I am going to put you on double secret probation!!!
If you look at casenet, they have changed the attorney to Amanda Alltman. She was his public defender in the last jury trial so they have put her as the attorney of record on all the probation cases.
Turner was also a prior and persistent drug offender who Booth represented and should have gotten ten years in prison, but Syler gave him long term drug treatment and he could out in 1.5 years and was rearrested for drugs within 6 months of his release for crack charges.
Look at Samuel Ward. He shot a guy three times in the middle of a cape neighborhood in the spring. He is a convicted felon and had two guns and reloaded one of the guns after the shooting. He admitted to shooting the guy. Ward has been to prison for violent offenses and Syler gives him ten years of probation!!!! WHAT?? Booth was not his attorney, but it shows a habit of soft on criminals.
Booth is a very nice lady and a good attorney, but she is not that good to get all these breaks.
Check casenet. You will be amazed!! Look at some of the bonds that he issues. He says bond is not a punishment, but it sure better protect the citizens that vote for him or he will be out on his butt!!!
I'm not a lawyer so I have no clue what prior offender or anything like that means...what is that? How do you keep track of all these knuckleheads committing crimes and getting their cds or videos or whatever? How does a person know if the prosecutor turned stuff over to a defense lawyer?
