Ray Darrell "Red" Higgins, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Sullivan, Mo., to Guy and Mary Edith Tyre Higgins. He and Betty Griffy were married May 17, 1952.
Ray was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and also served in Missouri Army National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Delores Hoover of Sullivan; a sister-in-law and husband, Wilma and Norman Huhn of Cape Girardeau; two brothers-in-law, Louie Griffy of Marston, Mo., Charles Griffy and wife Felicia of Edgewater, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Jean Higgins of Ellisville, Mo., Marie Higgins of Cuba, Mo., Helen Higgins of Sullivan; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Vernon, Leland and Wayne Higgins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Barry Pfanstiel officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
