Sunday, January 10, 2010
James McCormack received the National Association of Agricultural Educators Ideas Unlimited Award at the NAAE annual convention in Nashville, Tenn. McCormack teaches agriculture at Oran High School and created the Metal Horse project to challenge students to use several skills and tools like a drill press, bench grinder and more in a single project. The students are given a list of parts and a description of measurements; they must cut the parts and then put them together any way they wish to create a horse. McCormack was one of seven teachers nationwide to win the award.
