Lynn Hearnes, daughter of late Warren Hearnes, dies in Scott County auto wreck

Sunday, January 3, 2010
Lynn Hearnes, daughter of the late Gov. Warren Hearnes, was killed in a single-car accident Thursday in Scott County.

Hearnes, 60, of St. Louis, was traveling south on Highway 77 about five miles from Interstate 55 when she overcorrected, said Sgt. Dale Moreland, spokesman for Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop E. The vehicle ran off the right side of the road, and Hearnes was ejected from the car.

Hearnes is originally from Charleston, Mo., where her father and mother, former state representative Betty Cooper Hearnes, have their home. Gov. Hearnes, who held the state's highest office from 1965 to 1973, died in August at age 86.

Betty Hearnes was a state representative from 1979 to 1989.

I take it she wasn't wearing a seat belt?

KFVS said the accident was about a mile south of Kelly School. That would put it close to the Nasty 30 MPH corner before the bridge.

Our prayers are with the Hearnes Family.

I am sorry, I just watched the footage and it looks to me like the accident was just south of the first 55 mph turn (this is on 77).

It has been a rough year for the Hearnes family. I invite everyone to join me in prayer for this family. May God give them comfort.
