One adult, two juveniles cited in Perry County vandalism

Sunday, December 20, 2009

Thanksgiving vandals who targeted mailboxes in rural Perry County have been caught, Perry County Sheriff Gary Schaaf said Friday.

Deputies arrested Adam J. Winkler, 17, of Perryville, Mo., and two juvenile companions who Schaaf said were allegedly responsible for 32 reports of damaged mailboxes around Thanksgiving.

"We were able to locate and identify the perpetrators due to a witness and certain evidence left at the scene of one of the incidents" Schaaf said in a news release. "We have charged one adult with 17 counts of property damage second degree, and his two juvenile counterparts have been referred to the juvenile authorities."

Only 17 of the people reporting property damage wanted to pursue charges after the arrests because others who complained said they knew one of the teens or their parents, Schaaf said.

Pertinent address:

Perryville, Mo.

Sounds like a good "caning" may be in order. That way these young MEN wouldn't have criminal records, but probably wouldn't be creating any more havoc either. Male em wail!!!!

oh...and Merry Christmas Adam..and your young pals. Get your stuff together and grow up. PERSONALLY APLOGIZE to EVERY one of the folks you INTRUDED on and DAMAGED their personal property. Stop acting like knuckleheads and also think about your Moms and Dads and how they feel about this...pretty EMBARRASSING I bet.

I agree with Bearcat72....except the picture of the young Mr. Winkler on the www.suntimesnews.com website makes wonder....why the big smile during his booking photo? Hope it was only nerves...and that he learns. My Dad's mailbox was once vandalized. He lived alone. He was 96 years old at the time and I remember how afraid he was...thinking someone was out to hurt him. I hope the three young people take the time to think the next time. We have enough problems in this world -- don't make more, but do something to make the world a better place.
