Complaint filed after Tommy Sowers fails to disclose finances

The National Republican Congressional Committee issued the following statement:

On Nov. 2, 2009, Democratic congressional candidate Tommy Sowers filed a statement of candidacy with the Federal Election Commission, triggering a 30 day time window for him to file his Personal Financial Disclosure form with the House of Representative's Committee on Standards of Official Conduct. As of today, which is well past the 30 day window, Sowers's disclosure form is not yet on file. With Sowers in an uphill battle to replace Rep. Joann Emerson, it looks as if he's had to resort to bending and breaking the rules in order to for his struggling campaign to gain traction.

"Tommy Sowers doesn't think the rules should apply to him. Sowers says that he knows 'how to win and understands how to successfully accomplish difficult missions.' But apparently Sowers thinks that leading, winning and successfully accomplishing the mission are all more important than following the rules and allowing the his life to be an open book. amazing. not only is hiding his opinion on issues but now he is hiding his potential financial conflicts of interest.

So Sowers is already breaking the law before he even files to run for office?

Reminds me of all the Obama cronies who couldn't be appointed to his cabinet because they didn't pay their taxes. Typical Democrat!

Any statement by the NRCC that Tommy Sowers is out of compliance with the House personal financial disclosure reporting requirements is categorically false and defamatory. The procedures of the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct permit a federal candidate to seek an extension of time up to ninety days to prepare personal financial disclosure reports. Tommy Sowers made a timely request on October 7th, 2009 for an extension to prepare and file the personal disclosure report in order to ensure its accuracy. He intends to file the report shortly in full compliance with the law and well before the true deadline of January 6th, 2010.

If Sowers has nothing to hide, then why would he need an extension?

This guy is already trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Just like he does when he says he is a moderate. Sowers would be nothing but a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi's San Francisco ultra-liberal agenda.

The NRCC thinks that Tommy Sowers is trying to hide his finances and pull the wool over SEMO's eyes? How about the sheepskin Emerson has been pulling over all of our eyes by pretending she cares about the people in Jackson, Rolla, etc. half as much as she does living high on the hog out in Washington, DC? You want ethics violations look at her and not some ginned up NRCC statement!
