Albert Windel Blattel, 79, of Scott City died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Ancell, Mo., son of Leo S. and Anna C. Schoen Blattel.
Albert graduated from Fornfelt High School in 1943, and received a business administration degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1949. He was an accountant with Bucher and Associates in Sikeston, Mo., many years.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Albert was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Council 6420, where he helped in many different jobs and was Bingo chairman many years. He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 6407 and American Legion Post 1000. He was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso, Mo., and long time volunteer at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Adele Blattel of Ariel, Pa.; nephews and nieces, Charles W. and Brenda Blattel of Scott City, Hope Blattel Elliott of Granby, Mo., James H. and Gloria Blattel Arnold of Scott City, Fred and Jean Blattel Farris of Chaffee, Mo., Faye Blattel of The Woodlands, Texas; 16 great-nephews and nieces; 13 great-great-nephews and nieces; a great-great-great-nephew; as well as many cousins and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Gilbert J. Blattel, William C. Blattel, Dewane Blattel, Arnold Blattel, Leo S. Blattel Jr.; and a nephew, Darrol G. Blattel.
Albert was a very caring, gentle person who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed immediately by Knights of Columbus service.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.
