Oak Ridge advances to tournament unbeaten

The Oak Ridge boys basketball team will enter the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament as the only unbeaten team in the 16-team field.

The Blue Jays improved to 7-0 Thursday night with an 89-46 road victory against East Prairie.

Oak Ridge doubled up on East Prairie in the first quarter, building a 32-16 lead and extending the advantage to 54-25 by halftime.

Garret Light led four Oak Ridge players in double figures with 22 points. Brett Thomas added 19 points, Logan Mangels tallied 11 and Jacob Light had 10.

The Blue Jays will not play again until facing Bell City on Dec. 26 in the first round of the Christmas tournament. Oak Ridge, which already has won the Woodland Tournament, is the seventh seed, while Bell City is seeded 10th.
