Allenville man killed in Cape Girardeau County car accident

Sunday, December 13, 2009
EDITOR'S NOTE: Based on information from Williams' obituary, this story has been corrected to reflect Williams' and Thomas' correct home towns.

An Allenville man was killed Friday afternoon when the car he was driving ran off the road while traveling on Route NN.

The accident occurred two miles north of Highway 25 between Delta and Advance, Mo.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's online crash report, 39-year-old Donald L. Williams was driving on Route NN when his vehicle ran off the right side of the road. Williams overcorrected and the vehicle ran off the left side of the road, struck several trees and overturned.

Williams' passenger, 48-year-old Tracy L. Thomas of Advance, was seriously injured. She was taken by helicopter to Saint Francis Medical Center. Neither Williams nor Thomas were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol.

The accident happened around 1:50 p.m. Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton pronounced Williams dead at 3:14 p.m.

To Mr William's family and friends, you are in my prayers thru Jesus Christ to the one and living God. May he bless you greatly during this time. Also, to Mrs Thomas, may God reach down and heal your injuries.

Let this be a lesson to everyone driving or riding in a car......Please buckle that seatbelt.

.....and so it goes
