High school roundup: Lane leads Central boys to second straight win

James Lane recorded a double-double to lead the Central boys basketball team past Northwest 61-41 on Friday.

Lane finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds as the Tigers improved to 2-0.

Andrew Williams netted 12 points, including four 3-pointers, and dished out five assists. Kevin Casasola added seven points and five assists in the win.

A late layup and clutch free throws edged Saxony Lutheran past Grandview 73-69 in the third-place game.

Clayton Carver scored a layup to give the Crusaders the lead with less than a minute remaining. Trent Steffens then netted free throws to secure the win.

Brayton Klaus scored 17 points for the Crusaders (2-1), while Carver sank three 3-pointers for a 13-point effort. Trevor Mabuce finished with 15 points, while Trent Wills pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
