JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri is looking for someone new to lead its Department of Higher Education.

The state Coordinating Board for Higher Education has begun advertising for a commissioner to replace Robert Stein, who announced previously that he is retiring in July 2010.

Board chairman Lowell Kruse says it is conducting a national search for a new commissioner. The board plans to announce its selection in early spring.
