At their recent Halloween party, Mrs. Susan LaPierre's 4th grade class at Oak Ridge Elementary School decorated and filled over 70 goody bags to be donated to local hospitals. The bags were to be given to children who would not be able to celebrate this special "kid holiday". "Room mother" Beth Seabaugh contacted the class and their families and asked for donations of non-food items to be used in the bags. The class responded in an overwhelming fashion. Over 900 individual items were donated. Items included Halloween themed party favors, play dough, pencils, cups, straws, activity books and more. Mrs. Seabaugh also had each child write their name on a special card that was inserted into most of the bags. The card explained where the bag came from and wished the child receiving it a Happy Halloween and to get well soon!. All of the children were excited to be able to do something special form children that they will never know.

This is just one example of how this small town elementary school is helping the community. They also participate in food drives, collect soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald house and learn each month about a different "character word". This school is a testimony to dedicated teachers and staff!
