25 years ago: Nov. 10, 1984

Yet another challenge is being mounted against Cape Girardeau's multipurpose building; a committee has filed notice with the city manager's office that it will circulate petitions asking for the reconsideration and repeal of the city council's ordinance authorizing an agreement between the city and Southeast Missouri State University for the development of the project.

Construction has been completed on the huge glass entrance to the new Plaza Galleria on West Independence.

50 years ago: Nov. 10, 1959

Sometime during the weekend, vandals took advantage of the absence of construction crews to build a hut out of heavy concrete blocks on the second floor of the new women's physical education building, now under construction at State College; the childish prank could have caused injury if the structure had collapsed.

Principals and librarians from the Cape Girardeau public schools assembled Monday at Washington School to look over the many new books recently put into circulation and for use in schools.

75 years ago: Nov. 10, 1934

A shipment of Angora goats, 470 head, was received this week; the animals have been placed on Little River Drainage District levees near Oran, Mo., where they will be used to keep the ditches clean of weeds.

More than 500 followers of the Cape State Indians wound around the hills of Southern Illinois to Carbondale yesterday to see the Braves win their seventh straight football win, 32-0; Illinois coach McAndrew chose to play his second and third teams, saving his varsity squad for their battle for the lead in the Little 19 Conference next week against the Charleston, Ill., Teachers.

100 years ago: Nov. 10, 1909

One hundred and twenty members of the Daughters of the American Revolution were given a reception last evening at the home of Mrs. Robert L. Wilson, regent of the Nancy Hunter Chapter; at today's business session of the 10th annual conference, six new chapters are warmly welcomed.

A large stamp safe arrives in the morning and is installed in the new post office building on Broadway.
