Saxony advances to district title game in boys soccer

Thursday, November 5, 2009
Trevor Mabuce sent a pass to Logan Sprandel, who didn't miss.

Sprandel's goal in overtime lifted the Saxony Lutheran boys soccer team to a 2-1 victory against Bayless in a Class 1 District 1 semifinal Wednesday.

The Crusaders advanced to Friday's 6 p.m. district championship game against host school John F. Kennedy.

Brent Rodewald opened the scoring for the Crusaders when he found the back of the net in the first half.

Mathew Stueve earned the win in goal.

The Crusaders will try to match last season's success, when they reached the state quarterfinal round.
