Area emergency responders grouped at the Highway 25 bridge over the Diversion Channel this afternoon after a call of a capsized boat in the water, but found no sign that a human was actually in the boat when it overturned.

Emergency responders from several Cape Girardeau County fire departments were called to the bridge over the channel on Highway 25 after receiving calls of an abandoned, capsized boat.

Emergency personnel found a small boat overturned, but there was no sign of any person that might have been in the boat.

Authorities on scene speculated the boat might have been previously abandoned and washed down the Diversion Channel during recent flooding, coming to rest in its current position.

I am wondering why it took Duchtown,Cape Girardeau, and Delta fire departmaents to drag an old boat out of the water that had been there for about 5 months.

We can only hope the women and children were boarded onto its lifeboats first.

Gordonville got paged out for a canoe upside down. Then somehow Cape got paged out for a vehicle in the water, they have the equipment for water rescue.

They responded because someone called. If you saw a canoe capsized in the water 5 months ago, why didn't YOU call?

It was a nice day they need fresh air too. If you were stuck in a fire house most of the time and you had a chance to get out on the prettiest day of the year........ROAD TRIP
