FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) -- Fort Drum officials say a 10th Mountain Division soldier from Missouri has died in a German hospital from non-combat related injuries.
Spc. Robert Charlton of Malden, Mo., died Tuesday at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center from injuries sustained in Wardak, Afghanistan last Friday. The Army did not release details of the incident.
Charlton, a 22-year-old infantryman with the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, was sent to Afghanistan in January 2009. It was his first deployment. He joined the Army in July 2007.

My heart cries whenever I hear of a death in our military. To Spc Charlton's family, you have my prayers at this most heartbreaking time. Any soldier who dies on foreign soil to me is a Hero.
.....and so it goes.
This is so sad, my heart goes out to the family and friends of this young man. RIP my friend, even though I never knew you, you're a hero.
God Bless you and your family.
Fort Drum is where I live and where my husband is stationed, though currently in Iraq. My heart goes out to this soldier's family. 3rd Brigade has been getting hit hard over in Afghanistan, and my prayers are with this soldier's family as well as the families of all the soldiers. Be safe over there guys and take care of each other.
