Honors, Achievements

* Tempest Southall of Cape Girardeau, Caitlan Hester of Scott City and Marcus Painton of Oran, Mo., were appointed presidential ambassadors at Southeast Missouri State University. Ambassadors are student representatives who assist the president with greeting visitors and dignitaries.

* Kelsie Birk of Jackson received the Elyzabeth Schell Scholarship from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2009-2010 academic year.

* Morgan Stout of Jackson received the Margaret V. "Babe" McCarty Scholar Award from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2009-2010 academic year.

* Jerica Moore of Cape Girardeau received the Walt and Norma Wilkening Scholarship and the MU Special Talent Scholarship from the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources for the 2009-2010 academic year.

* Cody Curry won the teacher's choice award at Jackson Middle School. His piece of clay artwork, a rabbit peeking out of a hollow log with dragonflies buzzing above, was voted as a favorite this quarter by the middle school teachers. It will be on display in the middle school office the rest of the school year.
