Young man made rescue attempt

To the editor:

During the KFVS12 broadcast after the fire at the apartment on Boxwood Drive last week, a young man named Brandon should have been given credit for being the person who entered Thomas Tennant's apartment and attempted to rescue him.

Brandon had been in the apartment below Mr. Tenet. My daughter, who lives in the same building, gave both him and another young man each a wet cloth, and both of them re-entered the building. However, it was Brandon who went upstairs, kicked down the door to the apartment and crawled inside as far as he could but had to turn back because of the heat, flames and smoke. He felt very bad that he had to turn back and was probably not standing there when the reporter was interviewing. If you listened closely to the broadcast, I believe you would have heard the young man being interviewed quietly say at the end that another guy broke down the door.

Brandon has not asked for recognition, nor did he expect it. But I believe he richly deserves credit for risking his life that evening. His family and friends are very proud of Brandon.
