Marble Hill man sentenced to prison on firearms charge

A Marble Hill, Mo., man was sentenced to prison on firearms charges in federal court in Cape Girardeau on Friday, according to a news release from Federal Prosecutor Michael W. Reap's office. John P. Browning, 56, was sentenced to 180 months in prison on one felony count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. According to the news release, Browning was charged after Bollinger County sheriff's deputies searched his home and found a Remington 12-gauge shotgun and a Walther .22-caliber pistol. Because of a prior felony conviction, Browning is prohibited from possessing firearms.

How ironic. John Browning was the name of one of the greatest firearms designers of all time.

FIP sentences are usually pretty severe. Whatever this idiot's prior felony was, it must have been something bad, or he had a prior FIP offence. It looks like the Missourian has the age wrong. Casenet has the guy's DOB as 1951. There's also a FL criminal record for the same name and DOB for armed robbery w/ a gun, attempted armed robbery w/ a gun, bribery, and escape. Nice guy. Glad he's going to spend most of the rest of his life in prison.

what gives anyone the right to judge? do you know this person or the circumstances? there are 2 sides to every story. there are alot worse on the streets what about the sex offender next door? get a life
