Sunday, October 18, 2009
Construction on Independence Street is continuing between Sprigg and Lorimier streets this week, as Fronabarger Concreters completes construction of new sidewalk, curbs and gutters on the south side of Independence, according to a City of Cape Girardeau news release. On Monday, construction will move to the area between Lorimier and Spanish streets. This portion of work is scheduled to take between one and two weeks. Only westbound traffic will be able to travel through the area on Independence, while eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Merriwether Street. Local businesses will remain open during the construction work. For more information or to comment on the work, call the city engineering division at 339-6327.
