Don't rush on health care

Do you think that changing health care is a good idea? President Obama wants to put us on his so-called Obamacare. A lot of people support health care reform. I do not. I think our health care is fine the way it is.

My parents and I like our health insurance. We feel bad for those who are not covered. However, many don't have coverage by their own choice. My uncle and his wife have good jobs and have chosen for years not to have health insurance. They own a house and two cars and eat out on a regular basis. They recently got health insurance through my uncle's employer. That was their choice. People should not be forced into a government-run plan. We should be able to keep our current insurance.

It is comforting to have a doctor you trust to give you medical advice. Doctors go to school to understand our conditions. In other countries with government insurance options, politicians decide whose need for treatment is more important. Politicians would run a public-option plan, and I am concerned they are not prepared. Doctors should make health care decisions, not politicians.

Our current health insurance works for many people. If we are to make changes that would improve it, maybe we should take more time to consider options and not rush into something.
