High school roundup: Jackson boys soccer squeaks in a win over Carbondale at home

The Jackson boys soccer team remained undefeated by the slimmest of margins, winning at home on penalty kicks Thursday.

The Indians and Carbondale, Ill., ended regulation tied 3-3, which is the way things stood after two overtimes.

Carbondale failed on two of its five penalty kicks. Jackson made its first four, capped by Dylan Blaylock's successful shot that ended the contest.

Law Duncan scored two goals for Jackson (5-0), while Ryan Schlick had the other goal. Todd Heuring recorded an assist.

JV -- Jackson won 1-0

Notre Dame 3, Sikeston 1

Jonathan Lynch, Joe Froemsdorf and Jake Pewitt all scored during the Bulldogs' home victory.

Tyler Buelow earned an assist for Notre Dame (3-2).

Scott City2525 Meadow Hts47

Brooke Simpson led the Rams to the road win with nine kills and six digs.

Stephanie Essner had three digs and three kills, while Katie Diebold added 12 assists and eight kills in the win.

Mikah Simpson had six aces and five kills as Scott City improved to 3-0.

Erin Bollmann recorded three blocks and Heather Dietiker had two kills for the Panthers (2-3).

Woodland2525 Clearwater1810

Kendra Pinkley served up 10 aces and Kaitlin McCormick smacked six kills for the Cardinals.

Ashley Acup had 16 digs and Becky Brannon put up 16 assists as Woodland improved to 2-3.


Oran 7, Chaffee 3

The Eagles scored four sixth-inning runs to break a 3-3 tie and beat the visiting Red Devils.

Amanda Williams had the key blow in the sixth inning, a three-run homer. It was her fourth home run of the season. Williams also doubled.

Shelbie Seyer added two of Oran's seven hits while Claire Seyer scattered 10 hits for the victory. She struck out five and allowed two earned runs.

Hannah Bedwell, Taylor Kirchdoerfer and Montana Estes all had two hits for Chaffee. Estes delivered two RBIs.

The Indians pushed across one run in the third inning to spoil Tigers pitcher Brittany Perkins' outing.

Perkins allowed two hits, but her defense let her down with nine errors.

Central (3-7) collected three singles in the game.

Ashley Robinson and Kaitlyn Kuppart didn't drop a game in their singles victories for the Indians.
