Former state rep. Marilyn Williams dies

WAPPAPELLO, Mo. -- After a two-year battle against cancer, Marilyn Williams, 55, former state representative from the 159th district, died at her Wappapello home early Wednesday afternoon, the Dexter Daily Statesman reported. Williams, whose hometown was Dudley, Mo., was first elected to her House seat in 1991. Williams served consecutive terms until 2000. She had served in a number of leadership roles in the community and at the state level. No memorial service is planned.
