HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The city of Hannibal's plan to use an old landfill as an alternative energy source appears to be dead.
A two-month study determined that the amount of methane gas that could be obtained from the old landfill wasn't enough to generate electricity.
But city officials say they'll continue to seek out means of alternative energy. A resolution approved by the City Council this week "strongly" urges Hannibal's Board of Public Works to explore the feasibility of alternative energy sources.
