Hazel Henson Turns 90

Hazel (Barks) Henson was born July 7, 1919, in Oak Ridge, MO. The youngest child of Henry and Sarah (Hahs) Barks. Hazel celebrated her 90th Birthday at Jackson McDonalds, on Sat. July 11, 2009 with an open house. There was 200 plus guests in attendance, including her 2 sisters, Freda (Barks) Martin age 102 and Effie (Barks) Riehn age 97. Two siblings have preceded her in death Rev. Loy Barks at 98 and Gladys (Barks) Bollinger at age 90. She is also preceded in death by her Husband of 53 years Lloyd Henson and her daughter Joyce (Henson) Kinder. Open House was sponsored by her 2 living children Jerry Henson of Parkville, MO, and Nancy Henson of the home. The 200 plus in attendance included geusts from as far away as Orange, CA.

Hazel has been a fixture of Jackson McDonalds twice daily for the past 25 years. The original McDonalds opened in Aug. 1984 with Lloyd and Hazel in attendence. On Dec. 1994 Hazel and her sisters were evacuated because the original store was on fire. In June 1995, The Davis' invited Hazel and her family for the Grand Re-Opening of McDonalds. On May 6, 2003, Hazel was at McDonalds when the tornado went through Jackson. Hazel was safe and sound in McDonlad's freezer. In 2006 another storm came thorough Jackson and back to the freezer she went. Hazel has also been at McDonalds during the remodel and adding of the McCafe in 2009.

Through her 25 year history with McDonlad's Hazel has enjoyed a well done Sauage Biscuit with a cup of coffee Monday through Saturday mornings. Her favorite McDonalds dessert is the cherry pie. She visits again every evening for dinner Sunday through Saturday for a Hamburger or Nuggets and a coffee or water. Hazel's family and friends know where to find her.
