State Organization receives 5th Consecutive Federal Grant

Missouri Parent's Act (MPACT) Receives IDEA Parent Training and Information Center Grant

MPACT, a statewide parent training and information center funded through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) since 1988, received their fifth federal IDEA grant award on July 7th, 2009. MPACT educates and supports parents of children with special needs in the process of special education and disability specific needs. Services that parents may receive from MPACT include direct assistance through one-on-one mentoring, disability information and resources that include referrals to other service agencies as well as training workshops in special education, presenting Individual Education Program Process, Special Education Law, Effective Advocacy and Dispute Resolution as well as workshops on Transition to Adult Life, Positive Behavior Interventions, and Bullying. MPACT has provided services and resources to over 500,000 parents and youth in their 22 years of serving Missouri families. MPACT trainings and services are free of charge to parents.
