Will GOP history repeat itself?

To the editor:

Shades of yesteryear: The tale is told of the group of prominent Republican activists in the early years of the past century engaging in a discussion of the party outlook. One of them ventured the opinion that "if we don't change our habits and attitude, it will wreck the party." The more prominent of the group responded, "Yeah, but we'll own the wreckage."
