Bushes hide sign

I would like to request the people who put bushes in front of the Woodland Hills Estate sign right off Perryville Road to please remove those bushes so motorists can see when to turn into the area. When we give people the directions where to turn in, they can't find the sign.

More spending

PROBLEMS caused by excessive spending and indebtedness cannot be cured by more spending and more indebtedness any more than the cure for excessive lending is more excessive lending. During the Great Depression, FDR's treasury secretary, Henry Morgenthal, noted in his diary, "We have tried spending money, we are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. We have never made good on any of our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started and an enormous debt to boot." Often they had unemployment rates running anywhere from 25 percent and up but at eight years after this in 1929, the unemployment rate was still 17 percent. Today, President Obama is trying the same thing, and it's not going to work.

Great writing

BOB Miller, your story "A tale of fatherhood" was perfect. I loved it. I love your way of writing. I'd like to see more of your writing. It made a great Father's Day story. Continue the good work.

News priorities

SOUTHEAST Missourian, get your priorities straight. A few days ago there were the usual sports headlines on the front page, which only sports fans read. There are many of us who don't. On a back page was a story about the Nestle Toll House cookie-dough recall. How many of us make Toll House cookies as compared to those who watch sports? This item should have been front-page news. Some people I know didn't read it because they don't read the whole paper. Don't you think finding out about tainted food is a little more important than sports scores? Someone used poor judgment in this case.

Future health care

FOR those of you who want universal health care, I suggest you look at the VA system. While I am thankful for some things, others are more than not worth it. On many occasions I have had to wait six months or more for anything other than a clinic appointment. Most of the VA doctors don't care anymore. They ask you, the patient, what you want them to do. Since when do I know what medicine or treatment to give? Many times they tell you there is no need for tests because they won't treat you for certain things, even if that is your problem. You're either too young or too old. You want universal health care? Go to Canada. I wouldn't wish that on my own family.

No liberal slant

SO Fox TV didn't carry President Obama's Father's Day message. Thank God there is a network that is not worshipping the president, one that is giving us the news without a liberal slant. Many times the other networks ignored President Bush. And those other networks did a fine job campaigning for Obama before the election.

Balanced news

SOMEONE recently commented that Fox News was small-minded. Really? A recent poll shows that none other than Fox News was the most balanced. Fox News may be the conservatives' choice, but if you believe that CNN or MSNBC is fair, then you are certainly small-minded.

The country needs a national health care plan to cover all of the citizens. The system would not be free of charge, we all would pay for it through a national health care sales tax of about 8-10% on everything we would purchase except we would not pay the national sales tax when we would purchase a vehicle. I would let the american people decide by ballot on whether they would want to pay a sales tax for the National Health Care coverage of every citizen. If the majority wanted this type of system then we would have it if not then it would stay like it is a messed up crooked fraudlent system. With a National Health Care sales tax we would eliminate medicare and medicaid which now under these two systems we are losing billions a year through fraud. With a National Health Care Sales Tax every one would pay in to the system including the illegals, drug dealers

all the people on welfare everybody would contribute because they have to buy groceries and other items as well. Let the american people decide on this by ballot not congress or the states.

Fox news is small minded? then what the &%^& is ABC news? ABC not only aired Obama's propaganda style message on health care but ABC also agreed to NOT show any opposite voice to it, and refused to even air a single commercial that had an opposing view.

ABC- All Barack Channel

Mega,

I just read your post last night asking me about where Delores Luton's bar used to be called. It was called The Riverboat Lounge. It was located upstairs in one of the building by where Nick's and Breakaways is located now, not sure which one. It was one of those "you kinda had to know" secret bar back in the Rumors days. Her big song she sang nightly was "I've got a brand new pair of rollerskates". Ha-Larry-Us! My buddy used to say "if I owner a bar I'd sing too".

When she hired the hit man to kill her husband she gave the dude a crowbar! Ouch! A unique indivdual indeed.

More spending: Agree, it makes matters worse.

Future health care: Countries don't need health care but individuals might. Health care is personal, not public.

No liberal slant: Fox, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and NBC are all joined at the hip with government. America's Pravda. The only reason that they appear different is that government wants to appeal to all audiences. Believe me they serve the same purpose.

-- Posted by BCStoned on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 9:23 AM

Good morning! ☻

Bushes hide sign...try using the street name! ☻

More spending....well it sure doesn't work in personal finances.

Great writing...Congratulations to Bob & Cali...if all went well they welcomed their new addition today.

News priorities....the cookie recall has also been on the television.

Future health care....options! Physicians are no different than any other profession, in many cases people just don't care about customer service anymore.

No liberal slant....worshipping Obama....weak!

Balanced news....It seems to me that individuals should come to their own decisons/conclusions.

Chickenfoot,

Wasn't there a mannequin leg in the window or hanging out of the window? Seems like I remember that.

No Liberal Slant --

Yeah, Thank God we have a network that gives us a right-wing slant.

testing...

I don't understand what you f-ing liberals have against Fox News. Perhaps it is because it is the number one rated cable news channel????

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Calm down Cyclist, we are worried about your health!

Rick, I'll second that....it's definately HOT!!!

Chickenfoot, you said,

"It was called The Riverboat Lounge. It was located upstairs in one of the building by where Nick's and Breakaways is located now, not sure which one."

LOL! I remember this now! Someone I know *looking around* once got really really drunk up there and fell down those stairs. *snicker*

-- Posted by Megalomania on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 2:59 PM

Bushes hide sign: Which came first, the road or the house? Remove whatever came second.

More spending: What's that old saying? Fight fire with fire??

Great writing: Congrats.

News priorities: LOL!

Future health care: Must work to some degree, or all the veterans wouldn't be using it. Additionally, I have heard many GOOD things without any waits.

No liberal slant: LOL!

Balanced news: What poll?

-- Posted by Megalomania on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 3:05 PM

Wheels,

It's a miracle! This new AC unit actually turns off once in a while, and doesn't run constantly like the other. Imagine that. lol!

-- Posted by Megalomania on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 3:06 PM

Destroys --

Such crude and vulgar language. Your frustration is showing.

-- Posted by grisgris on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 3:22 PM

FOX NEWS is not a news channel... It's just an unfunny bunch of morons reading what the president of the network tells them to read.

-- Posted by the_eye on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 3:30 PM

Question. Are Social Destroys and You Can't Censor Me the same person. I just cannot believe that two people could harbor that much hate toward someone and still be of sane mind. For God's sake man go back to your Fox channel and get some more talking points. Fox has changed their motto to "We deceive, you decide. Ha Ha. By the way I do get a kick out of your posts. Please keep them coming. You would be shocked if you knew my identity.

-- Posted by howdydoody on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 4:55 PM

"Not frustrated at all there gris. You **** socialists are cutting your own throats"

Nope, no frustration there. Not at all...

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 5:08 PM

On Fox

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

-- Posted by Socialism_Destroys on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 2:09 PM

I watch it for laughs - esp. Shawn. He gets worked up and reminds me of you. That boy can spin - it though. If I thought he believed have the stuff he spouts, I'd worry about a heart attack. I think he knows he's an entertainer (like Rush), but sometimes I think he might have fooled himself and is taking himself too seriously. But then again, it could just be part of the act.

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 5:20 PM

FOX is good amusement....

-- Posted by ..Rick on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 5:24 PM

suelynn:

Very well said. I don't think Hannity has even mentioned water boarding since Charles Grodin challenged him to have it done. Remember he was going to do it as charity for the troops. What a phony. Hannity, Rush, Sanford, Palin, Gingrich, Bachman, Boehner, Cantor O'reilly, it just doesn't get any better for the GOP. Does anyone really think those old, white, fat and balding men of the GOP are going to let Palin be the candidate in 2012? I hope they do.

-- Posted by howdydoody on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 5:32 PM

oops, sorry - half not have

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 6:26 PM

howdydoody - he did drop that, didn't he? I forgot about that little act. Jep, he's a phony.

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 6:30 PM

suelynn...ur right about FOX...it is a source of amusement at best...☺

-- Posted by ..Rick on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 6:31 PM

Hi Rick - kinda slow in here today. Anyone that relies on any one news source or type, is fooling themselves. Also, have to take history into account as well.

Well, I've got to run a couple of errands and will check back later, but not expecting much activity.

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 6:42 PM

....or not responding to your silly ars....lol! ☻

Cycle, I'm a lil' surprised u didn't attend the pig roast???

A lil' relief on the way tommorow guys, lower humidity...sounds EXCELLENT to me!

-- Posted by Turnip on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 8:03 PM

Great news on your AC, Megal! I'm envious ... Our AC runs constantly from early a.m. to late p.m. Right now, the temperature is holding at 86--usually it can manage to maintain a low temp of 80 up until about midnight. Then, the unit keeps running even when the temp finally goes down to 74 (thermostat set at 78). No shade from the south or west until about 6:00 p.m., so guess it's just baking us?

howdydoody, a lot of Alaskans are thinking that Gov. Palin isn't going to run for governor again, but that she will end up with a show on FOX before she thinks about her next political step ...I kind of hope she does ... the former, anyway ... Thinking she's well-suited for national TV actually.

Right, suelynn ... about relying on any one news source or type ... Even what we might consider 'real' news is apt to be slanted, depending upon who is telling or writing it. Makes it kind of tough to figure out what the actual facts are sometimes.

Too hot for any real political discussions, SD ... but ... "Oh the things you liberals will destroy." ... Think outside the box for a moment (stupid phrase, isn't it?): Almost every single politician in our government is doing exactly what he/she thinks will get him/her elected again ... gotta admit they're really clever in discovering what political hot buttons will go over with the majority of the population. Can we admit that there haven't been all that many really good candidates, of either major party, for political positions in recent years? Might we finally suspect that aside from voting from our small fields of candidates, we really have little say in what our government does?

Was thinking the other night: If McCain and Palin had used some Hope and Change in their campaigns, they might just have won the election ... because that seems to have been what so many people wanted. What do you think?

Oh look - Tiny's back.

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 8:24 PM

Hi gurusmom, think I should cut back on teasing the boys? Kinda tickles me.

I agree on the news - hard to know what to expect next and who might be telling the truth or the whole picture. It's so easy to twist facts - but I guess that's the way it's always been if you look back through history. Still have to make an effort to get the truth and understand what is going on. I sure can't claim to know, but neither can this bunch that is in SO.

Guru,

It's a good time to buy. I got some great rebates and that tax return thingy coming at end of year. Ours did the same thing causing us a $300 plus bill.

-- Posted by Megalomania on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 10:07 PM

Wonderful for you, but I guess you'll just have to keep wondering why I think you are small... Like Wobble said the other night - must be true 'cause it, "It definitely hits a nerve with him".

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 10:17 PM

Hey SD, maybe he'll come to your rescue again tonight. You boys seem tight.

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 10:21 PM

You do flatter yorself don't you - but if I was you, I wouldn't be SO proud. Oh and it's too bad - no one to help rescue you tonight. Ah well, keep wondering tiny one.

"It definitely hits a tiny-little nerve with him".

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 10:48 PM

So small it be.

-- Posted by concerned4all on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 10:49 PM

I dunno, suelynn ... about the 'teasing.' Whatever amuses you gals and guys is entirely up to you.

Megal ... We HAVE a new unit ... but son doesn't want to install it while this ancient one is still running. I don't know who to call to see what it would cost to install it, though ... not many businesses in MH, you know ... which means hiring someone in Jackson or Cape and paying travel on top of the actual installation. Thinking someone in heating/cooling business might not want to install a unit if they hadn't sold it to us?

And yeah ... got the electric bill today ... less than two weeks of AC and it almost doubled already! YIKES!

-- Posted by gurusmom on Sat, Jun 27, 2009, at 11:14 PM
