An 8-year-old Kennett girl passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, after being found face down in a swimming pool.
According to Detective Jeremy Yates, of the Kennett Police Department (KDP), on Wednesday, officers with the KPD, Kennett Fire Department First Responders, and Medic One Ambulance Service responded to a residence on the north side of Kennett following a report of a child not breathing.
Upon arrival, officers found Alexis McClure, 8, not breathing, with her father performing CPR.
The victim was taken to the emergency room at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
Yates said according to the father, the victim was swimming in a small pool and he took his other child inside and returned within a couple of minutes to discover the victim lying on a raft, face down in the water. The father said he grabbed the child and noticed that it appeared as if she were having a seizure.
The victim's father then called 911 and began CPR until authorities arrived, according to the detective, who added that the father indicated the child had a medical history of having epileptic seizures.
