City of New Madrid will change to 4-day work weekFriday, June 26, 2009 ~ Updated 11:03 AMNEW MADRID, Mo. - Like many communities across the nation, New Madrid is looking for ways to cut costs yet continue to serve its residents. The City Council has decided on one step. Beginning July 6, the approximately 35 city employees will embark on a four-day work week, working 10 hour days. It will be a trial continued through Daylight Saving Time, ending Oct. 31. Comments |

So how does this save? I guess the little bit of electric usage? Wonder how much this is set to save compared to the disservice to residents.
Wouldn't you think it would help residents? Now there are more hours they are open on those days You might be able to get by those offices to take care of your business without taking time off from your job.
that makes a little sense i guess...now which days are they going to work?mon-thur or tues-fri
I think its a great idea. Way to go new madrid!!
In some cities I know it wouldn't make a bit of difference. its an idea every city really shold think about . I STILL think the schools should go to a four day week!!
