Charles William Sander, 93, of Jackson died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 15, 1915, at Whitewater, son of Charles Henry and Olga Meyer Sander. He married Catheryn L. Macke on Nov. 6, 1937. She died Feb. 20, 1964. He and Rosamond S. Milde Miller were married Aug. 5. 1966. She died Oct. 13, 2002.
After graduating from Jackson High School Mr. Sander was a traveling salesman for Cape County Milling Co. He then entered into business with his father to start C.H. Sander Sales in Jackson. In the early 1970s he became executive vice president of Coca Cola Bottling Co. of Southeast Missouri.
He was a deacon, elder and Sunday school superintendent of First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. He was a member and past president of Rotary Club of Jackson and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of Cape Girardeau Country Club and an honorary life member of the Tower Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon (Leonard) Dreyer, Cathy Sievers, and Carol (Doug) Rees, all of Jackson; a sister, Shirley (Hugo) Dippold of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Aleene Sander of Jackson; 11 grandchildren, Sherri Prysock, Nancee Flowers, Catheryn Hartle, Dennis, David, Doug, Paul and Darrell Sievers, Chris Jauch, Cara Raines, Tyson Rees; two stepgrandsons, Frank and Trentis Miller; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandsons.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Macke Sander; a brother, Leonard Sander; a son-in-law, Dennis Sievers; and two stepsons, Brian and Bruce Miller.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, with Dr. Grant F.C. Gillard officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
