BENTON, Mo. -- A Benton man was arrested Monday after he allegedly held his girlfriend at knifepoint and attempted to flee sheriff's deputies, according to a Scott County Sheriff's Department news release.

Ricky Wayne Counts, 53, was charged with kidnapping, assaulting a law enforcement officer, second-degree domestic assault, felonious restraint, resisting arrest, first-degree property damage and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the news release, Counts and his girlfriend got into an argument Monday afternoon at their home when Counts came home from work. Counts allegedly assaulted her and forced her into a vehicle at knifepoint.

Lt. Steve Young of the sheriff's department tried to stop Counts' vehicle near the home. Counts allegedly drove back home and ran into the house, slamming the door on Young, causing Young's hand to go through glass in the door. Counts then exited through another door in the house, and he was found a short time later hiding in a brush pile near the house.

Young's cuts required stitches, according to the news release.

Well lets see how long it takes for him to slip over the edge and kill her. This should be enough to put him away but, all he will get is a slap on the hand and then one day we will be reading about another woman being killed.

sundance,

agreed...I think with the charges on him, he'll at least be wrapped up in court and jail for a few weeks ;)

I like the Cape County Sheriffs, but I can't help but wonder if the hand going through the door thing would be like a "you ran into my fist" thing.

I wish the officer a speedy recovery, and hope his hand isn't hurt badly.

They shouldn't have been living together in the first place. Whatever happened to marriage? Any woman who would live with a boyfriend without being married to him is asking for a broken heart or worse. I talked with a couple who was living together and planning to get married and he said he wanted to try her out. What in the world? What was he thinking and where was her mind? Suppose he didn't like her after he tried her out? She would be the one hurt...just like this woman. This is a prime example of the degeneration of this society. Sad!

Lynwood: Abuse has nothing to do with being married or not being married it is still abuse either way!

ZeRo1,

You can still like the "Cape County Sheriff's", the arrest occurred in Scott County and it would be the "Scott County Sheriff's" who made the arrest.

By the way, the man in an "honery looking cuss". Makes me wonder what the female looks like. Quite likely she is not a little angel herself.
