River Campus third season to feature Garrison KeillorWednesday, June 3, 2009
"Every year we try to get the best touring shows available," said Bob Cerchio, assistant director of the School of Visual and Performing Arts. "And every year you can bet your bottom dollar that these were the best shows we could get that fit into our calendar, our budget and into our hall." Student performances open with "Little Shop of Horrors" on Sept. 30, performances of "The Children's Hour" start Nov. 11, "Carousel" begins Feb. 24 and Neil Simon's "Rumors" starts its run March 24. The touring series kicks off with the Virsky Ukranian National Dance Company on Oct. 17 and includes performances of "Annie", "Wizard of Oz" and "Sleeping Beauty". The symphony begins its concert season with the "New World Symphony" on Oct. 13. Keillor, known for his National Public Radio program "A Prairie Home Companion", will perform May 5. Season ticket sales open to the public Wednesday. Tickets for individual events go on sale July 15, after season ticket sales end July 10. Tickets for the master series, which includes all the symphony, theater and dance, and touring performances cost $413 and $342 depending on the seat location. Tickets for Keillor's performance and "Rumors" will be sold individually. Tickets can be ordered by mail, fax or in person at the River Campus box office at 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be reached at 573-651-2265. Comments |

The man from "Lake Woebegone" is a very talented person and is exceptionally funny. However, he like so many other entertainers is very left leaning and he displays it in his shows. It is for this reason that I could never pay to see him in person. Other than Garrison Keillor, it sounds like a really good summer is in store.
They better not run out of Keillor tickets! And nooo I'm not buying season ones to get them.
I hope the entertainment lineup agrees with Wendy.
LOL...He kinda looks like a budgie in this photo.
