AB? ISN'T THAT AT I-55. MUST HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CATCH SPEEDERS ON INTERSTATE INSTEAD OF TAKING CARE OF PROBLEMS IN SCOTT CITY...NOW A CAR IS TOTALED AND TWO INNOCENT PEOPLE INJURED.
Where is the city limit sign for scott city on interstate 55?
I have yet to see one, but the police sure do believe that the interstate is their jurisdiction.
Let's quit playing the blame game and just thank god no one was seriously injured. Law enforcement officers have accidents just like citizens of the community. That's why it's called an ACCIDENT...he didn't intentionally hit the oncoming truck. Water under the bridge.
The interstate is their jurisdiction, and the signs are marked from around the Cape Airport, and another one south of Scott City. Cape Girardeau police also help patrol the interstate in contract with the State of Missouri.
Municipalities all along the Interstate enforce traffic regulations when it goes through their jurisdiction; Scott City is not unique. Why do people feel their is something unique to interstate highways?
Once you pass Rhodes on Nash Rd that is Rt AB.Scott City Police is always there and it is in Scott City jurisdiction.
TripleS, Can a Cape City cop pull me over in Jackson?
Turnip, it is quite possible! Many of the Cape Cops are commissioned Deputies for Cape County. You just never know!
Now Turnip, if you mind your manners and obey the traffic laws, you will not have to worry about being pulled over regardless where you are. In answer to your question.....Yes, many of the Cape cops do have county wide commissions. The reason for that is to keep folks like yourself safe while they are away from home. Enjoy your drive!
I sure hope this officer receives a ticket for "failure to yield" like i received in an accident like this one. Sure, everyone makes mistakes and accidents happen... but police officer or not, everyone should be faced with the same penalties for those mistakes.
Scott City starts at the Scott City exit south on I-55 - unsure how far down they go. They cover north I-55 up to Nash Rd. and Nash Rd from the interstate ramps past most of the businesses in the area of Rhodes Travel Center.
The highway patrol covers all highways and county roads, they don't have manpower to cover everything. Cities take care of interstates within their city limits.
This ******* tried to shoot me over some shaved ham! What a dick.
Also, what about the tree??? Aren't cops supposed to protect and serve??? Trees make life so good. Now some of that CO2 from this ashole's cop car could kill some innocent baby!!!
What if this guy is an ex-military looking for work? Maybe he was a MP in the initial stages of the Irag War? Maybe he got shot at, dodged roadside bombs, and captured terrorists to keep us free. Redhawk2011 has the only good point. NO ONE WAS HURT!!! All you wanna-be lawyers discussing jurisdiction, isn't about time to clock-in at Rhodes???
Turnip,
You could spend a whole day in a law library going over VAMS, Westlaw and statutes determining jurisdictional boundaries and situations with "Hot Pursuit" "Major Case Squad Activation" and "Exigent Circumstances". LEO's from all over the country were in New Orleans and had full police powers.
Many adjacent cities and counties either have agreements or multiple commissions for cooperation and you also have rules as set out by NIMS.
