2 men unharmed after Mo. scaffold collapses
Saturday, May 23, 2009
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Two painters escaped serious injury when a scaffold they were on gave way at the top of an eight-story building in downtown Kansas City. One of the poles used to secure the scaffold gave way Friday afternoon, sending one painter sliding off. That man stood on a ledge, secured by his safety harness, until a firefighter was lowered down to him. Rescuers then hauled the firefighter and the man to the roof. The other man was able to break through a window and get inside the building on his own.
