Elvis Presley birthday celebration tonight
The Cape Girardeau/Jackson area Optimists will hold a birthday celebration in honor of Elvis Presley's 70th birthday tonight at Bingo World in Cape Girardeau. Bingo will start at 6:30 p.m., with Elvis music and decorations. There will be special Elvis pull tabs on sale and daubers with four different Elvis labels. There will also be Elvis trivia throughout the evening, with prizes awarded. At intermission (roughly 7:30 p.m.) an Elvis impersonator will be present. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. extravaganza Jan. 13
The third annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Extravaganza will provide entertainment from a host of area performers and orators on Jan. 13 in tribute to King at the Osage Community Centre. Arts Council, Southeast Hospital seeking entries
The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri and Southeast Missouri Hospital are accepting applications for their annual juried exhibition "Art for the Health of It." The art will be shown from Feb. 27 through April 27 with two-dimensional multimedia works to be displayed in the hospital's surgical waiting room corridor. Cantrells to appear at Underberg House Concert
The Cantrells will kick off the Underberg House Concerts' 2005 season on Jan. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Cantrells, a Nashville, Tenn.-based duo, have consistently been one of Underberg's most popular acts. Al Cantrell provides fiddle, mandolin and background vocals and Emily plays guitar and sings lead.
