Volunteer recognized for service to Saint Francis

Sunday, May 10, 2009

Bob Martin received the 2009 Vernice V. Baumstark Award at the annual Auxiliary and Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held recently by Saint Francis auxiliary. The award was created in honor of Vernice Baumstark, the first Auxiliary president, and is given each year to the person who best represents the organization's dedication, loyalty and service to the medical center. Martin, 84, has logged 6,000 hours in his eight years as a volunteer. He helps people find their way around Saint Francis and offers encouragement to set their minds at ease. He keeps track of hospital construction changes so he can take people wherever they need to go. For more information on the Saint Francis Auxiliary or Volunteer Services, call 331-5166.
