Guess Who's Coming to Dinner was a ground-breaking story back in 1967. Another ground-breaking dinner took place recently at Cape Junior High School when 51 students and their parents gathered for the First Annual Principal's Dinner "to recognize students who are simply doing their very best", according to Roy Merideth, principal.

Teachers nominated students for recognition at the banquet for many reasons: improving a grade, helping another student, or being the kid that always makes the class fun. "These students are role-models", said Alan Burns, assistant superintendent. Students did not know which teacher nominated them until they were called up to receive their awards.

Eighth-graders pictured in the photo above, from left to right, front to back are Tim Heirsman, Anna Garrett, Erin Bittle, Jessica Coomer, Brandy Guinter, Ashley Cusick, Josh Sander, Laura Waggener, Kapri Thatch, Alex Owens, Brodrick Hartline, JaMesha Hamilton, Megan Caldwell, Shawn Schumer, Gage Shipman, Makayla Newman, Andrea Anderson, Bobby Coffey, Katie Williams, Eric Evant, Rene Reyes, Nicholas Smentkowski, Matt Flanagan, Cale Knepp, Clayton Hillier, Conrad Dean, and Allyson Busch.
