Jackson School Board holds electionsFriday, April 10, 2009The composition of the Jackson School Board will remain the same for the next year. The board held officer elections and inducted re-elected members at its semimonthly meeting Thursday. Terri Tomlin, who is in her eighth year on the board, will serve a second consecutive term as board president. "I appreciate your confidence in my ability to lead this group," Tomlin said. Brent Wills and Cathy Goodman were re-elected in Tuesday's municipal election. Wills, who received 41 percent of the vote, started his fourth term after taking the oath of office during the board meeting. Goodman was re-elected with 38.7 percent of the votes and started her third term. She was also elected board vice president. Dr. T. Wayne Lewis previously held the position. For the next year, Tomlin said the board will focus on completing the first phase of construction at the high school and starting the second phase, which includes classrooms and a library. "We'll be glad to get those construction projects behind us," she said. Superintendent Dr. Ron Anderson said the bidding process for the second phase should start in the next month. He said the board has considered including a penalty clause in the second round of contracts to keep the project on schedule. Anderson said electricians and painters are putting the finishing touches on the first phase of construction. Art students also started their first week of classes in the new facility, he said. "It's quite a change from where they were, as we all know," he said. 388-3627 Pertinent address: 614 E. Adams Jackson, MO |
