Sikeston class of '89 seeking members
The Sikeston, Mo., High School class of 1989 is making plans for its 20-year class reunion June 19 to 20. Class members have set up a website for classmates to reconnect at sikeston89.ning.com. 2009 Dogwood-Azalea Festival pageants accepting entries
The 2009 Dogwood-Azalea Festival beauty pageants, sponsored by the Charleston, Mo., Merchants Group, is open to residents of all communities and offers five age divisions for girls. The pageants will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 14 in the Clara Drinkwater Newnam Auditorium in Charleston. There is an entry fee. Early entry deadline is Friday. All entries received by this date will have their photos run in the local papers and pageant program. The final deadline to enter is April 8 and those entrants will have their photos run in the pageant program only. Call for Earth Day activities
Workforce Employment Solutions is asking area companies to help them make a difference on Earth Day by asking for suggestions for an activity the Workforce staff can complete on Earth Day. Staff will be in the community promoting that commitment with eco-friendly gifts along with helpful information and tips on how companies can be more environmentally-conscious through April 17. Workforce offices throughout the region will close at noon Wednesday, April 22 to to carry out Earth Dayactivities until 5 p.m. as a group. Individuals can submit their ideas by logging onto http://www.visitworkforce.com and clicking on the Earth Day link. Entries will be entered into a drawing for $250. Workforce is encouraging individuals, and companies, to join them with them on the project that is selected for Earth Day.
