JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon's administration says it has saved hundreds of thousands of dollars by renegotiating leases for state offices. Nixon ordered a review of all long-term state contracts as one of his first actions after taking office in January. Documents provided to The Associated Press under an open-records request show Nixon's administration has renegotiated 15 leases for state offices, laboratory and industrial work space around the state. Those reduced leases are projected to save the state $558,120 over the terms of the contracts. A Nixon spokesman says additional leases will be renegotiated as they come due for renewal.
