Seat-belt law would clog courts

To the editor:

I agree with the letter about seat belts. The government is getting involved in our personal decisions way too much. You can get a fatal head injury from a fall while walking. It may not happen often, but the next thing you know we will have to wear a helmet while walking. We have a backlog of court cases now. Do we want to add to it by having laws like this passed? You cannot protect everyone from every danger. It should be a choice. I can understand putting a child in a seat belt or car seat. Adults should have the choice to make on their own. What's next? Outlaw cars?
