Quittin' Time features hammered dulcimer, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and bodhran (Irish flat drum). "I got hooked on this musical heritage when I began playing the bodhran in the Ozarks,” says Steven Juhlin. “After moving to Cape Girardeau, a few of us musicians began playing together and last year "Quittin' Time" was formed. Long ago in the hills at the end of a long laborious day, someone would break out a fiddle and others would soon gather around. We feel that traditional music is still an important and enjoyable part of life. So, when work gets in the way of playin' music, it's "Quittin' Time"!" The group features Denise Dowling (hammered dulcimer), Ben Goodier (fiddle), Ruth Juhlin (guitar/piano) and Steven Juhlin (bodhran, mandolin, whistle). Quittin' Time occasionally plays for contra dances with the Cape Friends of Traditional Music and Dance as well as at gatherings, parties and traditional venues.
